After 6 weeks wearing the WHOOP 5.0 through training, travel, and a stretch of poor sleep — here's our full verdict. Read our testing methodology.
Fitness Tech & Wearables Editor · Tested May–June 2026 over 6 weeks · Methodology
WHOOP 5.0 launched alongside WHOOP MG in May 2025 as the most significant hardware update in the brand's history, and after six weeks of 24/7 wear across training blocks, travel, and a genuinely rough week of sleep, it's clear the upgrade delivers where it matters most. The headline change is battery life — WHOOP says the new sensor package holds roughly three times the capacity of the 4.0 — and the practical effect of never thinking about charging is the single biggest quality-of-life improvement in this generation.
The hardware itself is 7% smaller and slightly lighter than the 4.0, and it genuinely disappears on the wrist after the first few days. WHOOP remains screen-free by design — no notifications, no display, no GPS — and that's either a feature or a dealbreaker depending on what you're looking for. If you want a smartwatch replacement, this isn't it; if you want the least obtrusive way to capture 24/7 physiological data, it's hard to beat.
On the insights side, the core trinity of Strain, Recovery, and Sleep remained the most genuinely useful daily signal throughout testing. Recovery scores tracked closely with how testers actually felt, and the Sleep Coach's bed/wake time recommendations were specific enough to actually act on. On the Peak tier, Healthspan's WHOOP Age and Pace of Aging metrics added an interesting longer-arc view, though the day-to-day actionability is lower than Strain or Recovery.
The charging experience is a genuine upgrade — the Wireless PowerPack lets you top up while still wearing the device, fully charges in about 2 hours, and itself holds an additional 14 days of charge, meaning a traveler could realistically go a month without finding an outlet. Sensor accuracy for heart rate and sleep staging held up well against a chest-strap reference during testing.
The honest caveat at $239/yr for Peak (or $199/yr for the entry-level One tier): the membership-only model means the hardware has no value without an active subscription — cancel, and the device stops recording entirely. A small number of testers also found themselves wanting basic time-of-day and notification glancing that a screen would provide, especially compared to a Garmin or Apple Watch. That said, for anyone serious about recovery, sleep, and longevity tracking who doesn't mind giving up a screen, the WHOOP 5.0 remains one of the most capable dedicated health trackers available. We awarded it Best Recovery & Sleep Tracker in the 2026 Best Fitness Tech Awards. Browse our full electronics reviews or wearables category.

7% smaller and lighter than WHOOP 4.0. Genuinely disappears on the wrist after the first few days of 24/7 wear.
Heart rate and sleep staging held up well against a chest-strap reference. Recovery scores tracked closely with how testers actually felt.
14+ days per charge, nearly 3x the 4.0's capacity. The Wireless PowerPack lets you top up without ever taking the device off.
Strain, Recovery, and Sleep Coach guidance was specific and actionable. Healthspan adds an interesting longer-arc view on Peak and Life.
$239/yr for Peak is fair for the insight depth, but the membership-only model means the hardware has no value without an active subscription.

Libre is widely available across beauty retailers and department stores. We track the best deals below. All prices verified June 2026. Best ways to save: YSL's own sitewide promotions, Sephora and Ulta seasonal sales, and buying the refill bottle instead of a new full-size bottle.
Everything you need to know before buying YSL Libre.
Libre is rarely discounted directly on YSLBeautyUS.com outside of occasional sitewide promotions, but there are a few reliable ways to save: Sephora and Ulta seasonal sales (spring and fall "Savings Event" and "21 Days of Beauty" windows) typically offer 10–20% off sitewide. FragranceNet and similar discount fragrance retailers often sell Libre at a meaningful discount versus department store pricing — just confirm you're ordering the correct size and concentration (EDP vs. EDT vs. Le Parfum).
If you already own a refillable bottle, buying the 100 mL refill instead of a new full-size bottle is typically the better value per mL, while also reducing packaging waste.
All three share the core lavender-orange blossom-vanilla signature, but differ in intensity and character. The original Eau de Parfum ($180.00 for 90 mL) is the most balanced and versatile, suitable for everyday wear. Libre Le Parfum ($210.00) is the most concentrated and longest-lasting, adding a warm, spicy saffron accord from YSL's Ourika Community Gardens for a bolder, more intense statement. Libre Eau de Parfum Intense ($195.00) adds glowing orchid for a more sensual, slightly sweeter twist on the original.
If you're new to Libre, the original EDP is the safest and most versatile starting point. If you already love it and want something bolder for evening wear, Le Parfum is the natural upgrade.
In our testing, Libre held up well through full workdays, with most testers reporting 8–10 hours of noticeable wear and strong projection for the first several hours before settling into a closer skin scent. This is solidly above-average longevity for a designer Eau de Parfum at this price point, and consistent with widely reported user experiences.
Yes, if you plan to repurchase Libre over time. YSL calculates that refilling one 50 mL refillable bottle using the 100 mL refill, compared to buying three separate non-refillable 50 mL bottles, saves approximately 41% glass, 67% metals, and 38% plastic. Beyond the sustainability benefit, the refill is also typically a better value per mL than buying a brand new full bottle each time, since you're not paying for a new bottle and cap each purchase.
Yes — this is one of Libre's genuine strengths. While the opening is bright and noticeable, it's not overpowering in an enclosed office setting, and the fragrance settles into a warm, pleasant drydown that's appropriate for professional environments. Several of our testers specifically used it as a daily office scent without any negative feedback from colleagues, and it transitions well from daytime work settings into evening plans without needing a reapplication or a different fragrance entirely.
Buy Libre if: you want a more distinctive, attention-getting fragrance with real character — the lavender-orange blossom pairing is genuinely unique among mainstream designer florals, and you want stronger longevity and projection.
Buy Chanel Chance Eau Tendre if: you prefer a lighter, fresher, more universally inoffensive scent for daytime wear, don't need maximum longevity, and value Chanel's brand prestige. In our testing and scoring, Libre consistently outperformed Chance Eau Tendre on versatility and longevity, making it the stronger pick for a genuine daily signature scent, while Chance Eau Tendre suits buyers who specifically want something lighter and more subtle.
