Our Place care
One pan to replace the pile of pans you don't need. The Our Place Always Pan 2.0 is a 10-in-1 ceramic non-stick pan that sautés, sears, steams, braises, boils, fries, strains, serves, and stores — replacing up to 8 separate pieces of cookware with a single, beautifully designed vessel. Built from hard-anodized aluminum with a non-toxic ceramic coating free of PTFE, PFAS, lead, and cadmium, and bundled with a stainless steel steamer basket, a nesting spatula, and a lid that locks onto the handle to save drawer space.

Why we picked it

  • 10 cooking functions in one pan — sauté, sear, steam, braise, boil, fry, strain, serve, store, and slow cook; the built-in strainer lid and integrated steamer basket make tasks possible that other pans require separate equipment for
  • Non-toxic ceramic coating — no PTFE, PFAS, lead, or cadmium — Our Place's Thermakind ceramic coating is free of the chemicals associated with traditional non-stick coatings; oven-safe to 450°F without off-gassing concerns
  • Nesting spatula included — stores inside the pan — the wooden spatula's handle rests in a notch on the rim, keeping it off the counter and solving one of the annoying logistics of cooking with a single pan
  • Stainless steel steamer basket included — fits inside the Always Pan to steam vegetables, fish, and dumplings without a separate steamer pot; doubles as a strainer for draining pasta and grains
  • 100-day free trial, free returns — Our Place's return policy is genuinely generous; cook with it daily for over three months and return it if it doesn't work for your kitchen

The pan that started the "one pan" movement — and still leads it.

When Our Place launched the original Always Pan in 2019, it was met with healthy skepticism. The claim — that a single $145 pan could replace a sauté pan, skillet, non-stick pan, saucepan, strainer, steamer, and serving vessel — sounded like marketing. After testing the Always Pan 2.0 daily for 60 days across everything from morning scrambled eggs to braised chicken thighs and weeknight pasta, our editors can tell you the claim is more accurate than it first sounds. The Always Pan 2.0 doesn't merely do all these things adequately — it does several of them better than the individual specialist pans we replaced. The wide, shallow base sears more surface area than a standard skillet. The built-in strainer lid means pasta water drains without a second pot. The steamer basket turns the pan into a proper steamer without any additional equipment. The 2.0 upgrade over the original adds a deeper channel, a stay-cool handle, an improved ceramic coating, and the XL size option.

The key to the Always Pan 2.0's success is its geometry. At 10 inches wide and with a depth between a skillet and a saucepan, the pan occupies a cooking sweet spot that most home kitchens need daily. It's wide enough to sear a chicken breast without crowding, deep enough to hold a pound of pasta in boiling water, and shallow enough that steam circulates efficiently for vegetables. The Thermakind ceramic coating is non-stick enough for eggs and delicate fish from day one, non-toxic in a way that traditional PTFE-based coatings are not, and oven-safe to 450°F — allowing the pan to start a sear on the stovetop and finish in the oven just like cast iron. Our editors tested it against the Caraway Saute Pan, GreenPan Premiere, and All-Clad d3 Fry Pan over 60 days. Browse comparisons on our Kitchen Cookware page.

What's new in the Always Pan 2.0

The 2.0 is a meaningful upgrade over the original in four ways. First, the nesting spatula design is improved — the beechwood spatula's tip profile is better shaped for the pan's corners and the rim notch secures it more firmly during cooking. Second, the ceramic coating formula is updated — Thermakind is more scratch-resistant than the original formulation and has maintained non-stick performance consistently through 60 days of our daily testing. Third, the handle design is redesigned with a silicone grip that stays cooler during prolonged use on both gas and induction. Fourth, the XL 12-inch size is added — answering the most common complaint about the original (that 10 inches was limiting for households of 3+). See all sizes and colors on Our Place's website →

Who should buy the Our Place Always Pan 2.0?

  • Small households and apartment cooks with limited storage — a single 10-inch pan that hangs on a hook or sits in one drawer slot replaces a tower of pots and pans; the storage advantage alone justifies the purchase for studio and one-bedroom apartment kitchens
  • Cooks who want a non-toxic non-stick option — the Thermakind ceramic coating is free of PTFE, PFAS, lead, and cadmium; buyers who've been using traditional Teflon pans and want a cleaner alternative will find the Always Pan 2.0 a direct swap
  • New apartment and first-home setup buyers — instead of buying a set of mismatched pans, one Always Pan 2.0 covers the cooking bases a single person or couple needs daily for $150
  • Minimalist cooks and one-pot meal enthusiasts — if your weeknight cooking is sautéed vegetables, pasta, stir-fry, or braised proteins, the Always Pan 2.0 handles all of it without switching pans mid-cook
  • Buyers who want aesthetics to match function — Our Place's color palette is genuinely beautiful; the Sage, Lavender, and Steam colorways photograph well and look intentional hanging on a pot rack or displayed in an open kitchen

Skip the Always Pan 2.0 if you cook for more than three to four people regularly (the 10-inch pan runs out of real estate quickly at larger volumes — consider the XL instead), if you need a true high-heat searing surface for steaks (cast iron or stainless steel handles extreme dry heat better than ceramic non-stick), or if you bake frequently at temperatures above 450°F. For the vast majority of everyday home cooking — eggs, sautéed vegetables, pasta, stir-fry, braised proteins, steamed fish — the Always Pan 2.0 genuinely consolidates your pan collection without compromise. What we love & what we don't

After 60 days of daily use — eggs every morning, pasta two nights a week, braised proteins on weekends, and steamed vegetables in between — here is our honest assessment of the Our Place Always Pan 2.0.

What we love

  • The nesting system genuinely solves a real kitchen problem — the spatula in the rim notch, the lid locked to the handle, the steamer basket stored inside — it sounds like a gimmick but after 60 days it becomes genuinely unconscious and delightful; your counter stays cleaner and your drawer less cluttered
  • Non-toxic coating is the real differentiator — the PTFE-free Thermakind ceramic coating is the primary reason most Always Pan buyers choose it over a traditional non-stick; for cooks who have been thinking about reducing their PFAS exposure, this is a meaningful practical switch
  • Ceramic coating delivers excellent non-stick in the first year — scrambled eggs slide cleanly, fish fillets release without tearing, and baked-on sauce wipes off with a soft cloth; non-stick performance at 60 days was indistinguishable from day one
  • Replaces more pans than you expect — we genuinely put away our sauté pan, saucepan, steamer insert, and colander for months; the Always Pan handled every task we threw at it for weeknight cooking
  • Induction-compatible magnetic base — works on all cooktop types including induction, unlike many non-stick and ceramic pans that are gas-and-electric only
  • 100-day free trial is real and meaningful — Our Place's return policy is one of the most generous in cookware; there's no financial risk to trying it for three months
  • Color palette is genuinely beautiful — Sage, Lavender, Steam, and Blue Salt are the best colorway choices in the direct-to-consumer cookware space; the Always Pan looks intentional hanging on a pot rack or displayed on a shelf
  • Oven-safe to 450°F is genuinely useful — searing stovetop then finishing in the oven is possible in ways that lower-rated non-stick pans don't allow; this expands the pan's cooking repertoire meaningfully

What we don't

  • Ceramic coatings degrade faster than PTFE over time — this is true of all ceramic non-stick, not uniquely the Always Pan; the Thermakind coating's non-stick performance will diminish between 2–4 years of daily use faster than a quality PTFE pan; Our Place rates it for 3–5 years with careful maintenance, which is honest but shorter than cast iron or stainless steel
  • No metal utensils — ever — the spatula and wooden/silicone tool restriction is a genuine adjustment for cooks used to metal spatulas; it's easy to forget, especially when scrambling eggs or moving a sear quickly, and a single metal utensil scratch accelerates coating degradation
  • Cannot handle high dry heat — no proper steak sears — cast iron and stainless steel develop proper crust at high temperatures that ceramic non-stick cannot safely reach; the Always Pan is excellent for moderate heat cooking but it is not the pan for a cast-iron style steak crust
  • 10-inch size is limiting for 3+ person households — a pound of pasta fits but crowds the pan; a full meal of chicken thighs for four requires batching; the XL 12-inch version at $175 solves this but is a $25 premium
  • Dishwasher use shortens coating life — technically dishwasher safe, but Our Place explicitly recommends hand washing to extend the Thermakind coating's lifespan; for buyers who rely on the dishwasher, the coating will degrade faster than the rated 3–5 years
  • $150 is premium for a non-stick pan — GreenPan and Caraway offer ceramic non-stick pans at $60–$90 that approach the Always Pan's cooking performance; the premium is for the nesting system, accessories, color range, and brand positioning — legitimate reasons, but real reasons
  • Glass lid knob feels less premium than the pan — the beechwood knob on the lid sits slightly incongruously with the overall quality of the pan; it functions correctly but feels like a small cost-saving decision

Our verdict: 4.3 stars

The Our Place Always Pan 2.0 earns its reputation as the best all-in-one pan for everyday home cooking. The nesting system is genuinely functional (not just clever marketing), the Thermakind ceramic coating delivers real non-stick performance for the first year and solid performance through the second, and the 10 cooking functions claim is more accurate than skeptics expect. The caveats — ceramic coating longevity vs. cast iron, no high-heat searing, $150 price point — are real but appropriate for what the pan is: an elegant, versatile, non-toxic everyday cooking tool for kitchens that value both function and aesthetics. At $150 during the current sale (down from $195), it represents the best value this pan has been at in two years. Buy on Our Place's official store →

What's not in the box

Our Place does not include a trivet or pot holder, though the silicone handle grip keeps the handle cooler than bare steel during stovetop use. A silicone spatula is a recommended companion purchase for cooks who want a second non-scratch utensil option — Our Place sells a matching silicone spatula set on their website, or any standard kitchen silicone utensil works. If you plan to use the Always Pan primarily on an induction cooktop, note that induction does require the pan to be centered on the burner element for even heating. The Always Pan 2.0 is also available in a Set configuration bundled with the Perfect Pot 2.0 at a combined discount on the Our Place website.

Moved into a 400 sq ft studio apartment. This pan literally lives on my stovetop and I haven't opened my cabinet of other pans in four months.

I moved from a two-bedroom into a studio this year and did a ruthless kitchen purge. I kept one knife, one cutting board, and this pan. Every morning it makes my eggs. Every night it makes pasta, stir-fry, or a one-pan chicken dinner. I steam my vegetables in it with the basket while my grain cooks in it below — a trick I learned from a recipe on Our Place's website that genuinely works perfectly. The nesting spatula in the rim notch felt gimmicky when I read about it and feels completely natural after a week. I haven't opened the cabinet where my old pans are stored since I moved in. The Sage color looks genuinely beautiful on my stovetop and motivates me to keep the kitchen tidier around it. For studio apartment cooking this is as close to a perfect product as I've encountered. Worth every cent.

Honest three-star review: the first year is genuinely excellent. By month 18 the coating is noticeably worse. I'm on my second pan.

I want to write this review because most Always Pan reviews are from people who've owned it for a few weeks. I've owned two. My first was purchased in 2022 and by mid-2023 — about 16 months of daily use — the non-stick performance had degraded meaningfully. Eggs that slid out effortlessly on day one required a thin layer of butter by month 16. By month 20 the coating was performing comparably to a non-stick pan at the end of its life. I contacted Our Place and they replaced it under warranty, which they did promptly and with no argument. My second pan is now 8 months old and still performing excellently. So: the 100-day trial is real, the warranty is real, and the first year to 18 months of performance is genuinely outstanding. But if you're a daily cook expecting this to last 5+ years, that hasn't been my experience. Three stars for the full picture; five stars for the first year and zero stars for the longevity. The company's service partially redeems the durability limitation.

I was convinced by the aesthetics and stayed for the cooking. The steamer basket alone has changed how I eat vegetables.

I won't pretend I didn't buy this partially because it looked beautiful in Lavender in my open-plan kitchen. But the cooking performance is what made me keep it and recommend it to everyone I know. The steamer basket specifically has changed my vegetable cooking habits — before, I'd boil vegetables in a separate pot which takes ages and leaches nutrients. Now I steam them in five minutes inside the Always Pan while I cook the main protein below. My broccoli is actually green and not grey. My carrots have texture. It sounds mundane but it's the kind of cooking habit change that genuinely improves what you eat every week. The non-stick performance has been consistent for ten months of near-daily use. I hand wash it every time which Our Place recommends and which I believe genuinely makes a difference. The Lavender with the beechwood knob and handle is the most beautiful cooking object I own. My guests always ask about it.

I cook Indian food daily — dals, curries, tadkas. This pan handles all of it and cleans in under a minute.

I want to add this perspective because most Always Pan reviews focus on Western cooking — eggs, pasta, sautéed vegetables. I cook Indian food daily: dal tadka, sabzis, curries with heavy spices and sometimes tamarind. The Always Pan 2.0 handles all of it. The ceramic coating withstands mustard seeds popping in hot oil at the start of a tadka. The wide base is perfect for roti and paratha. The depth is sufficient for a full pot of dal for two. The non-stick surface makes cleaning a pan with ghee-based sauces a thirty-second rinse rather than a fifteen-minute soak. I was worried the ceramic coating would stain from turmeric — it does slightly after months of use but it cleans off with a soft cloth and baking soda paste in thirty seconds. I am on month eleven with no degradation in non-stick performance because I hand wash it always and never use high heat. This pan is genuinely exceptional for Indian home cooking and I recommend it without reservation.
