After 8 weeks of testing — HIIT classes, running, yoga, weightlifting, and everyday wear — here's our take. Read our complete testing methodology.
Women's Activewear & Fitness Editor · Tested March–April 2026 over 8 weeks · Methodology
The Lululemon Wunder Train High-Rise Tight is the best performance legging I've tested for high-intensity training. Where the Align is built for stillness and yoga, the Wunder Train is built for movement — fast, hard, sweaty movement. After 8 weeks of wearing these across HIIT, spin, running, and strength sessions, I can say with confidence: this is the go-to legging for women who actually work out, and at $98, it earns every cent.
The headline is the Everlux fabric. Lululemon describes it as their fastest-drying, most sweat-wicking fabric — and that's not marketing fluff. During a 45-minute spin class, the moisture visibly wicked away from my skin and dried within minutes of leaving. By contrast, cotton-blend leggings become heavy and uncomfortable. The Everlux fabric stays light, smooth, and dry even during back-to-back sessions. No chafing, no bunching, no shifting.
The high-rise waistband is a standout. It sits above the natural waist with a wide, structured band that does not roll down — a frustration that plagues cheaper leggings. Whether I was doing deadlifts, burpees, or box jumps, the waistband stayed put. The compression is firm but not constricting — you feel supported, not squeezed. The waistband's hidden interior pocket comfortably fits an iPhone 15 Pro, AirPods case, and a credit card simultaneously.
The ribbed leg panels are both functional and aesthetic. They move with the leg's natural flex during squats and lunges, providing targeted compression without restriction. They also create a subtle sculpting effect — the ribbing defines the leg's contours in a way that smooth-fabric leggings don't. Multiple colleagues and gym-goers asked about these leggings during testing, which is unusually high social proof for athletic wear.
I tested the Wunder Train across these real sessions: 14 HIIT classes (45–60 minutes each), 6 outdoor runs (3–7 miles), 8 weightlifting sessions (heavy compound lifts), 4 yoga sessions (used the Align for these — the Wunder Train's compression is unnecessary for slow flow), and 12 full days of casual errand-wearing. The leggings passed every test without issue. They were comfortable enough for all-day wear but performative enough for serious training.
Sizing runs true to size for most body types. If you're between sizes, size up — the Everlux fabric has enough give that the larger size will still feel supportive without being loose. The 25" inseam hits at the ankle for most women between 5'4" and 5'8". Shorter women (under 5'3") should consider the 21" crop; taller women (5'9"+) the 28" full-length version.
At $98, the Wunder Train is $30 less than the Align and — for training purposes — a better legging. The Everlux fabric outperforms Nulu for any sweat-generating activity. If you own one pair of leggings for working out, this is it. We awarded them our Editor's Pick in the 2026 Best Activewear Awards. Browse our full women's category or activewear reviews for more.

High-rise waistband stays put through every movement. True-to-size fit with just enough compression to feel supported without constriction. Ribbed panels move naturally with the body.
Everlux is Lululemon's fastest-drying, highest-performance fabric. Zero bunching, shifting, or chafing across HIIT, running, and lifting. Best-in-class for high-sweat workouts.
Held shape and compression after 40+ washes. No pilling at high-friction zones (inner thigh, waistband). Seams and stitching remain intact. Lululemon Quality Promise covers defects.
$98 is strong value for performance leggings at this level. Significantly underprices alternatives like Alo and Vuori while outperforming them. Lululemon Quality Promise improves long-term value.
Ribbed panels create a sculpting, flattering silhouette. Clean, minimal branding. Available in 10+ colors and patterns. Versatile enough to wear gym-to-errands without changing.

The most common questions our readers ask about the Lululemon Wunder Train.
It depends entirely on what you'll use them for. Buy the Wunder Train if you exercise with intensity — HIIT, running, cycling, weightlifting, or any activity where you sweat significantly. The Everlux fabric dries fast and stays light. Buy the Align if you do yoga, pilates, barre, or low-intensity activity — or if you want leggings primarily for casual daily wear. Nulu's buttery softness is unmatched for stillness, but it's not built for sweat.
Many Lululemon loyalists own both: Wunder Train for the gym, Align for yoga and lounging. If you're buying your first pair and you actually work out, start with the Wunder Train — it's more versatile for active use and $20 less expensive than the Align.
Yes — 100% squat-proof. The Everlux fabric is fully opaque at all angles, including a full deep squat. We tested this extensively during our review (yes, really — it's part of our methodology) and found zero transparency even under direct overhead gym lighting. The fabric is thick enough that it holds its opacity even under tension.
This is one area where the Wunder Train outperforms cheaper alternatives, many of which look opaque in the store but become sheer when stretched during movement. The Wunder Train does not have this problem.
Yes — size true to your usual Lululemon size or your general clothing size. The Everlux fabric has a firm 4-way stretch that conforms to the body without needing to size down, unlike some other compression leggings where sizing down is common.
If you're between sizes (e.g. sometimes a 6, sometimes an 8), size up. The larger size will still feel supportive and compressive without being uncomfortably tight. Sizing down for extra compression can make waistband and leg seams uncomfortable during long workouts. View Lululemon's official size guide →
Extremely well. The interior waistband pocket uses a horizontal slot opening that stays secure during all movements. We tested it with an iPhone 15 Pro Max during a 5-mile run and a 45-minute HIIT session — the phone never shifted, slipped, or created discomfort. The pocket sits flat against your lower back, distributing the weight evenly.
One caveat: if you carry a very large phone (6.7"+ phones like iPhone 15 Plus) plus keys, the combined weight can create slight waistband drag during running. In that case, consider splitting your carry between the pocket and a running armband. For typical carry (phone alone, or phone + cards), the pocket is excellent.
Lululemon rarely discounts the Wunder Train at full MSRP. Your best opportunities: the "We Made Too Much" section on Lululemon.com regularly features discontinued Wunder Train colorways at $59–$79 (check it weekly — inventory rotates). Major annual sales during Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, and Black Friday may include limited discounts on select styles.
Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale (typically July) sometimes includes Lululemon at a discount. The $98 MSRP has been stable for two years and is unlikely to drop. Popular sizes (6, 8, 10 in Black) sell out fast when discounted inventory appears — set a browser notification or check multiple times per week if you're hunting a deal.
The Everlux fabric is durable but benefits from proper care. Machine wash cold, inside-out with similar colors. Use a performance detergent (like WIN Sport Detergent or Hex Performance) — standard detergents don't fully remove sweat residue from synthetic fabrics, leading to odor retention over time.
Never machine dry — heat degrades the Lycra elastane, which causes loss of compression and shape retention. Lay flat or hang dry — Everlux dries in 1–2 hours at room temperature. Avoid fabric softeners (they coat synthetic fibers and reduce wicking performance). With proper care, expect 2–4 years of regular use before any meaningful compression loss.
21" crop: Hits mid-calf for most women 5'4"–5'8". Good for studio, cycling, and warm-weather workouts. Looks proportional on shorter frames (under 5'4") as a full-length legging.
25" full-length: The most popular option. Hits at or just above the ankle for women 5'4"–5'8". The go-to for all-around use, running, and cooler temperatures. Works well on most height ranges. This is the version we reviewed and recommend as the starting point.
28" tall: Designed for women 5'9" and taller. Hits at the ankle without the slight crop that the 25" creates on taller frames. If you're tall and have always found leggings ending mid-calf, the 28" solves that.
