Glossier Futuredew is the product that essentially defined the "skincare-makeup hybrid" category Glossier built its identity around, and it remains one of the brand's most consistently reordered products since launch. We tested the 30 mL liquid formula across six weeks on three skin types — dry, oily, and combination — applying it solo, layered under makeup, and mixed directly into foundation, and the conclusion lines up with what Glossier's own founder Emily Weiss has said about it: it genuinely functions as a one-step shortcut to the look of a much longer skincare routine, even if it isn't a substitute for one.
The core formula is what sets Futuredew apart from a typical glow drop or illuminating primer. Rather than relying primarily on light-reflecting pigment for its glow effect, Glossier suspends a blend of four nourishing oils — jojoba, grape seed, evening primrose, and rosehip — in a water-in-oil emulsion, which genuinely changes how the product feels and performs versus silicone-heavy glow primers. The formula also includes evodia rutaecarpa fruit extract for brightness and sodium hyaluronate for hydration, alongside the light-reflecting mica and titanium dioxide that deliver the immediate luminosity.
The instant glow effect (application) impressed us across all three skin types tested. Two pumps blended into the palms and pressed onto the face delivered a genuinely "lit from within" sheen rather than an obvious shimmer or sparkle — closer to the look of healthy, well-rested skin than to a highlighter. Even on our oilier-skin tester, the finish read as dewy rather than greasy in the first few hours, though that balance does shift later in the day (more on that below).
The texture and wear over time step is where the brand's clinical claims held up reasonably well. Glossier's own third-party study reported 100% of 31 participants observed increased radiance immediately, and 96% saw improvement in texture and radiance after four weeks of consistent use. Our dry-skin tester noticed visibly smoother-looking skin by week three, consistent with the continued-use claim — though we'd characterize this as a subtle, cumulative softening rather than a dramatic transformation. The oily-skin tester found the dewy effect held for roughly 6–8 hours before needing a blotting touch-up, somewhat short of the "up to 12 hours" marketing claim in warmer conditions or on oilier skin types specifically.
The hybrid versatility is genuinely the product's strongest selling point. Wearing it alone on no-makeup days gave a believable glow without looking like product sat on the skin. Mixed into a skin tint or foundation, it meaningfully loosened the texture and added a sheen that read as "good skin" rather than "foundation." Used as a targeted highlighter on cheekbones and brow bones, it performed comparably to a dedicated cream highlighter, just with a softer, more diffused finish.
The honest caveat at $30.00 for a single 30 mL bottle: this is a genuinely premium price point for what is, at its core, a 1 oz multi-purpose face oil-serum, and the dewy effect requires reapplication for some skin types to maintain the marketed 12-hour wear claim. Skincare purists may also note that while Futuredew is hydrating and contains some brightening actives, it is not a replacement for a complete skincare routine with active ingredients like retinoids or vitamin C in higher concentrations. That said, for anyone who wants a fast, low-effort way to achieve a healthy-looking glow — whether worn alone, under makeup, or mixed in — it remains one of the most reliably loved products in Glossier's entire catalog.
